Sacraments of Initiation
The sacraments of Christian initiation ― baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist ― lay the foundations of every Christian life. ". . . The faithful are born anew by baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life. By means of these sacraments of Christian initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity."
Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1212
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The disciples of Emmaus met Jesus on the road and after he had explained to them, in the light of the Scriptures, the meaning of their experiences, they recognize him in the breaking of the bread. In the same way, we journey with those who are in search of meaning in their lives, and we help them recognize Christ, the living Word, so that, having been baptized and confirmed in the faith, they may become fully integrated into the Christian community through the Eucharist.
